NHTRC gathered statistics from the calls they took from 2007 through 2012.
- NHTRC answered 65,557 calls, 1735 online tip forms, and 5251 emails totaling more than 72,000 interactions
- 41% of sex trafficking and 20% of labor trafficking cases referenced US Citizens as victims
- The NHTRC experienced a 259% increase in calls between 2008 and 2012
Human trafficking is a violation of another person’s rights. It is not something just going on in other countries. It is going on in the USA, in our cities and communities. We need to educate ourselves about the signs and how we can create awareness, get involved, and donate our time and talents to wiping out this terrible thing. The National Human Trafficking Resource Center has a hotline, 888-373-7888, visit their website at www.traffickingresourcecenter.org
